
Cape – Wine, Whales & Garden Route (10 day safari)

Day 1
Cape Town – The day starts off with a trip up the majestic Table Mountain via a 302m cable car ride. (Table mountain is 1 085m above sea level and is visible for 200km out to sea.) After lunch we take a ferry ride to Robben Island. (A world heritage site, where Noble Peace prize winner, Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for 27 years.)
Day 2
Cape Town – After breakfast we visit the world famous Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden. (The garden boasts over 6 000 different plant species, including ferns, proteas and fynbos.) A stroll on the famous Hout Bay beach is next on our agenda, after which we head off to Cape Point via the awe-inspiring Chapman's Peak.
Day 3
Today offers an excursion to the Boschendal and Zorghfield wine estates where we will enjoy the delicious wines that South Africa has to offer. The evening is spent exploring Stellenbosch.
Day 4
After breakfast we spend the day shopping in Stellenbosch. We drop anchor at Hermanus to enjoy the best land based whale and dolphin watching in the world! (The whales can be viewed frolicking as close as five meters from shore.)
Day 5
An early excursion of whale and possibly dolphin watching awaits us. In the afternoon we travel to Cape Agulhus. (The most southern point on the African continent. This is where the cold Atlantic ocean meets the warm Indian ocean) We spend the evening in the picturesque Swellendam.
Day 6
Today is a day of leisure for you to explore Mosselbay. Some of the activities you can endeavour are a visit to the Diaz museum, Great white shark diving, skydiving, horse riding on the beach or you can gamble at the famous Garden Route casino.
Day 7
Today we leave Mossel Bay and make our way to the Cango Caves. On route you will experience some breath taking scenery where we will stop off at several view points. (Cango caves have huge chambers with stalagmites and stalactites.) Our afternoon sees us at the Cango wildlife center where you can dive with the mighty Nile crocodile. You will also come face to face with the Big cats of the world. A ride on the largest bird in the world, the ostrich, can also be arranged.
Day 8
We leave Oudtshoorn and travel to Knysna. Here we enjoy either a hike or a mountain bike ride through the lovely Knysna forest. (Over 300 different species of birds inhabit this lush forest. Mammals include Bushbuck, Monkey, Baboon and Caracal.) Knysna's lagoon is guarded by sandstone “heads” and is surrounded by mountains, lakes, forests and ocean. The scenery here is breathtaking. The day is rounded off with sundowners and dinner at one of the trendiest bars that Knysna has to offer. We overnight at the Log Inn – the largest log structure in the southern hemisphere.
Day 9
After breakfast we travel to the Tsitsikamma forest, where you can enjoy a tree top tour via 10 slides to 10 platforms high up in the trees (30 meters above the ground). Then we are off to Bloukrans – the highest bungi in the world – 216m free-fall. If you really want to face your fears, then this Bungi jump will sort you out! We overnight at the Tsitsikamma forest.
Day 10
In the morning we travel to one of the surfing meccas of the world – Jeffery's Bay. You can try your hand at surfing in some of the best waves in South Africa. The rest of the day will be spent Dolphin and Whale watching before we head off to Port Elizabeth. Depart at your leisure. Arrangements can be made to travel with your hosts back to Pretoria/Johannesburg.

At an additional fee, arrangements can be made to drive to and from the Cape from Pretoria/Johannesburg one day before and after with your hosts. Alternatively you can fly to Cape Town if you are not from the area, arrangements will then be made to meet you at the V&A Waterfront at 8:00am on the first day of your tour.
